Breathing Micro-Units

This project explores the adaptive reuse of a commercial building into a residential apartment complex. At its core, the challenge is: how small can an apartment unit be while still supporting comfort, dignity and livability?
The resulting micro-units are compact yet highly functional, each carefully planned to maximize every inch. To offset the tightness of the private spaces, the design introduces a central atrium and strategically placed open pockets throughout the building. These voids bring in natural light, enhance ventilation and serve as the breathing spaces, creating a rhythm of openness within an otherwise dense environment.
